Does It Last?

By Scott V. Black

I hope all is going well with you as we get the first month of this New Year in the books. One of the things I love about what I do Monday thru Friday is that I have the opportunity to communicate, follow up with and build relationships with our graduates and potential graduates.

My job, when I am not in class, is usually to get butts in chairs. So I contact people that are referred or recommended by our graduates. Our goal at Empower U is to have at least three conversations with someone within the first 2 weeks after they have graduated from Awakening. It allows us to help them process, to help things make sense, to encourage them to continue the journey by taking other classes like Adventure, EQ, and our other classes.

As most of you know we also rely on referrals. If our graduates aren't sharing our training with those they respect and care about, then we cease to exist. So another outcome of the after-class relationship is to help put other graduates around them, to help them get some "Starfish." We are on a "seafood" diet… In other words if our graduates are not sharing our life altering training with others, then we don’t get to live our mission and change lives.

As I am talking with people before class—and sometimes after class—I get this question a lot…"Does it last?" That is an interesting question. What they really want to know is does the "feeling," the "desire," or "drive" last after the class is over. Of course the answer is...

Awakening Graduates...

Make 2007 the Adventure of a Lifetime

As an Awakening graduate you already know how powerfully your life changed once you got clear on your personal mission. Yet as powerful as Awakening is, Leadership Adventure goes far beyond in helping you live your mission in the world.

That's a pretty strong promise, but one that Adventure graduates from all walks of life can affirm. If you want to see one graduate's 8-part journal of his Adventure experience, click here.

You will find the updated schedule for all classes here. Note the currently scheduled dates for Leadership Adventure in 2007 are:

January 18-20
March 23-25
April 26-28

All Adventure classes are held in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Action Plan for Today - Your Magic Wand

Okay, today the truth comes out... we at Empower U have a "magic wand" that will allow you to keep all of the passion, focus and commitment that you felt in Leadership Awakening for the rest of your life.

Really, we do.

You don't even need to personally hold it to receive its wonders. It works at a distance. And the more people use it, the stronger its effects. To take advantage of this extra service we offer just follow these instructions:

  1. Make sure to do your 5 & 5 every day. Without fail. And mean it.
  2. Keep your mission statement posted where you and everyone else will see it every day. And be sure to look at it every day to remind yourself of something important. Think about how you will live this mission today.
  3. Continue taking classes, reading books, and listening to audio programs that challenge, inspire and motivate you. For example, you could attend Leadership Adventure, read Scott's book, "Becoming Your Dreams," or listen to the free audio recordings of his radio show on the web site.
  4. Surround yourself with supportive people who want you to reach your goals and live your dreams.
  5. Do everything else you can to reinforce the commitment you made to yourself and your family. Come on staff at Awakening. Watch the Graduation DVD, "Light Your Candle." Listen to one of the Empower U music CDs.

If you do all of the above, we guarantee that the magic wand will touch you in exactly the right way so that your passion, your vision for your life and your dreams will keep going for the rest of your life.

Check it out and see for yourself...

What Is Your Mission Statement?

We really want to know. In fact, we'd like you to send us a copy of your mission statement. We'd also like your permission to include it in this newsletter.

Why?

For 2 reasons:

  1. It helps you be more accountable when you share your mission statement with others.

  2. It inspires others to re-visit their mission statement more regularly.

So help yourself and help all of your fellow graduates by sending in your mission statement. Just click here to send it.

Gary Vorce: 4 Years Later

In February of 2004 Gary Vorce attended Leadership Awakening. Did the experience last for him? Read on to find out...

First off Scott I want to thank you. I learned a lot about my self from being in Leadership Awakening (Team 337) and also Leadership Adventure (Team 163). When I left the ranch in mid July of 2004, I was pumped up and excited, what was ahead of me would challenge my strength and courage.

In September of 2004 my mother was diagnosed with an inoperable cancer, and I was trusted into a role to be her strength and her voice. I shared with my mom the dash, and she shared it with all that came into contact with her. She passed away November 2004 at her home with us beside her. I remembered back when we wrote our eulogies and thinking back how Mr. Bickler stressed how people would remember us. I wrote that eulogy to cover her dash. I wanted people to know how great she is and the accomplishments my mother made in everyone's life.

In April of 2005 months after my mother passed I would again face a challenge this time with my younger brother. He was diagnosed with brain cancer and I would be the one to decide his medical treatment.

I recall sitting in the stairwell at the hospital crying and asking out loud who am I to decide if he lives or dies and it brought me back to Leadership Adventure and having to make the mock choice of just choosing two. I searched for an answer and it did come to me, I made the very best choices for my brother. He passed away in June of 2005. I also wrote that eulogy to cover his dash again I wanted people to know how great he is and the accomplishments my brother made in everyone's life.

I wanted to share this with you Scott because the strength I gained from going through EMPOWER U set me in motion to be as strong as I am.

Long after people leave the ranch they may lose some of what they gained, but I will always have the experience fresh in my mind. Your question says let me know how I can help you.

Scott you already have. Thank you
