You're Right... Attitude is Everything
By Scott V. Black
Good day Empower U Leadership Team.
Recently, I was in Texas teaching a custom class for a company owned by
two friends who are also Empower U graduates. At the beginning of this class
we give out elastic bracelets with the initials "HBS" on them. The bracelets
are used as a way to become aware of all the powerless words, thoughts and
un-resourceful talk – both internal and
external – that we use.
Whenever somebody uses the "try" word, or says or thinks something
un-resourceful, they are supposed to pull on the elastic bracelet and snap
themselves. This, of course, is to make them aware of the way they think, so
that they can start to change the pattern if those patterns are not getting
them the results they want. This is a great technique that has been used for
years. Pavlov, Freud and others used this method. Today we call it Neuro
Associative Conditioning (NAC).
On our break someone was admiring the bracelets and said we should add
the initials AIE (Attitude is Everything) to the bracelets, since our class
is Mega-Cognitive (Thinking about thinking). I heard this and replied with
the customary, "That's a good idea," then continued to focus on the class I
was delivering. Things were starting out with less than positive
possibilities. This class had started with an audience that was in a very
"un-resourceful" attitude and it hit me... "You're right - Attitude is
Everything." We were about to live an experience where the effect of
attitude was so strong, that it became the focus of the training...

Empower U News Update |
How Do You Want To Start The New
Year?
A brand new Leadership Adventure is now on the
schedule in January. This means you can start your new year in
2008 by taking your leadership skills 'over the line' to the
next level by attending Adventure.
If you haven't committed to attending Adventure yet, read
what a recent graduate said after her experience:
"Until I completed Adventure I had not realized the
disservice I was doing myself by not completing the process.
Awakening is only a very, small part of the big picture.
Until completing Adventure it was as though I possessed a
winning lottery ticket which I could not or would not cash.
I could look at my ticket and instantly recall rush of
excitement at winning my millions however I stopped short of
cashing it.
"Two years after enthusiastically participating in my
own Awakening I chose to take one the numerous opportunities
offered to me and attended Adventure.
"Rest assured now that I’ve cashed my winning ticket
my want to feed the hungry NOW has a how & when, my want to
love the seemingly unlovable NOW has a who, how & when, my
want to do a good job NOW has a where, when and for whom and
my desire for building a future NOW has a plan, materials &
a crew of skilled builders with a powerful and fearless
leader."

My Leadership Adventure Experience
- Brandy Holmes |
|
When an Air Systems of Sacramento
employee or one of their family members attend an
Awakening team many of us go to the graduation not
just to encourage and support our starfish, to
reenergize our own Awakening experience but also to
see if the attendee “got it”. I have eagerly sat in
many graduations waiting for the moment I could get
to look my friend in the eyes and see the spark. To
see if he or she “got it” and more often than not, I
see that sought after spark and feel a since of
pride and fulfillment having done my part to
facilitate a loving change in the life of someone I
care for.
Anyone who interacted with me after
my Leadership Awakening training would happily tell
you that I “got it”. I now understand that getting
“it” isn’t enough. Leadership Adventure answers;
what to do with “it”, how and when. Until I
completed Adventure I had not realized the
disservice I was doing myself by not completing the
process. Awakening is only a very, small part of the
big picture. Until completing Adventure it was
though I possessed a winning lottery ticket which I
could not or would not cash. I could look at my
ticket and instantly recall rush of excitement at
winning my millions however I stopped short of
cashing it. Two years after enthusiastically
participating in my own Awakening I chose to take
one the numerous opportunities offered to me and
attended Adventure.
Going into Adventure I sought the
same “head in the clouds, I can do anything” feeling
I had when I finished Awakening. The feeling I have
today after completing Adventure is difficult for me
verbalize because words seem to be so much less
extraordinary than the feeling itself. I feel as
though I am “stretched” with my feet firmly planted
in the most extremely rooted, power stance I have
ever stood, my soul is souring universe, all the
while my mind is fixated, focused on what is
important to all of human kind and for me it’s:
myself, my family, coworkers, community and my world
at large. And unlike Awakening this feeling has the
possibility of lasting a lifetime.
Rest assured now that I’ve cashed my
winning ticket my want to feed the hungry NOW has a
how & when, my want to love the seemingly unlovable
NOW has a who, how & when, my want to do a good job
NOW has a where, when and for whom and my desire for
building a future NOW has a plan, materials & a crew
of skilled builders with a powerful and fearless
leader. Thank you to everyone on the Empower U
teams, employed, volunteer or attending for making a
difference in my world.

Making a Difference - Crystal
Roberson, Team 495 |
|
I committed to giving back to my
community in some way. This will be an ongoing quest
for me.
I have joined my church's women's
ministry and participate in various volunteer
capacities. One thing I did which I never knew how
to do before is to operate the audio equipment
during a group meeting. I had about 10 minutes to
learn the equipment! But I made it through and did a
great job.
One of the future goals of the
women's ministry is to start a prison ministry. This
means the director will be going to women's prisons
and sharing the word of God with those who need
strength and encouragement. Also helping in women's
shelter's will be another part of the ministry.
I have committed myself to help with
these goals once the ministries are fully developed.
I also have a personal goal that's much of a spin
off of this ministry which is to eventually start my
own ministry to help people in Africa and other
parts of the world.
So this is my story and I'll provide
updates as things develop. I believe in living life
like it matters, but also helping others to do the
same!!!
