"Survey Says..."
By Scott V. Black
Hello Empower U Leadership Team… It is a great day to be alive!
I trust you are in the battle to continue to live your life with purpose, and
passion, commitment and vision. As you read this article consider how you are
closer to becoming the leader, the person, who you were meant to be. When I
write these articles, they are written in a conversational manner. I write about
things I am learning and relearning. I write about my opportunities and
struggles that I go through as a leader Under Construction. Knowing that others
have similar struggles and can benefit on this journey of becoming the George
Bernard Shaws we could have been!
Ready, Go!
I would like to continue the focus that we started in the last newsletter. We
were talking about the GO button. I had challenged you to consider this button
and to label it. If you were to see a friend, a family member, any human being
and you wanted to get their attention you would call out their name. If you
didn’t know their name it would be hard to address them, or get their attention.
Since we have been considering this GO button, I posed the question “What is
this button?” What do we call this thing that makes us do, or not do, most of
the things that we do?
For those of you that participated, it was wonderful
hearing from you. I appreciate those that took the time to become actively
involved in this “one-way” conversation and share their thoughts. I love to hear
from our graduates… so, “Thank You!” to those who took 2 minutes out of their
busy lives to play along.
I got many different answers and later on in this article I will share
with you what I believe is the specific label, or name, for this GO button.

The Adventure of Your Lifetime!
Are you still waiting to complete the process you started in
Awakening? Haven't made the commitment to go through Leadership
Adventure yet?
We could tell you stories all day long about the amazing
personal breakthroughs Adventure graduates have. But instead,
listen to their words about the gains they've made...
"Adventure certainly took things to a whole new level for me... I really
'got' Awakening from taking Adventure...
"I like to tell people it was Anthony Robins meets Survivor."
~ Eric Bradley, Adventure Team 136
|
"Until I completed Adventure I had not realized the
disservice I was doing myself by not completing the process.
Awakening is only a very small part of the big picture.
Until completing Adventure it was as though I possessed a
winning lottery ticket which I could not or would not cash.
I could look at my ticket and instantly recall rush of
excitement at winning my millions however I stopped short of
cashing it.
"Two years after enthusiastically participating in my
own Awakening I chose to take one the numerous opportunities
offered to me and attended Adventure.
"Rest assured now that I’ve cashed my winning ticket
my
want to do a good job NOW has a where, when and for whom and
my desire for building a future NOW has a plan, materials &
a crew of skilled builders with a powerful and fearless
leader."
~ Brandy Holmes,
Adventure Team 193
|
"Just got back tonight from Adventure! WOW... it
really does take you from 26 to 100. That is no
exaggeration!
"I strongly urge you all to go.
You will take all those tools from Awakening and use
them like you have never used them before.
"It was a rewarding weekend. Jeff
and I are doing great. Each day I am excited to come
home and spend quality time with him. Take a deep
breath and be glad you are ALIVE, I know I am."
~ Valerie Hoffman, Adventure
Team 165

Awakening Update |
Roebbelen Construction Gets Lean and Mean... With Passion!
Gary Davis, the General
Superintendent for Roebbelen Construction company,
used his post-Awakening and Adventure renewed
passion and focus to create a vision of losing
weight and getting healthy.
But in true team-building form, he
also challenged the employees of Roebbelen to join
him in this quest. And many of them are taking him
up on it!
He's taking a very proactive and
direct approach with his team. At times he sounds a
lot like a coach talking to the squad before the big
game. Here's an example of one email he sent
participants:
You are in the driver seat. You
are in control and will take a new path to
keeping yourself young. All the jokes are fun
but this is about sharing and support. This is
about putting it out there and making a
difference in yourself and the people around
you.
I feel the commitment from the
ones that I sent this to. I don't even hear a
BOO from some of you that are on the copy list.
Some of you have aches and pains that are past
injuries and need to be careful. There are those
of you that have the pains of just sitting on
your ass and not doing any thing about change.
This starts with the first step.
I hear " I hurt my knee". Work on you upper body
and calorie intake. "I'm to busy". We're all
busy. I am sure that some of your "busies" can
be replaced with more productive "busies" to
promote health, healing and energy. With your
new energy, you will let more "busies" into your
life.
I am only writing this email
with a serious side because I want you to draw
from this and talk to yourself. Get yourself
motivated. Use your EmpowerU tools to get
yourself going. Share with each other more so we
can hold each other accountable and progress
towards staying alive longer and at a higher
degree of health. It's all good, it's all fun.
Inspiring!
Even better, results are steadily
coming in. Emails between participants shared with
Empower U include comments like this:
I have been do a routine work
out using a cycling coach and a
nutritionist, my weight is still at 194 but my
body fat is at 12% if any
one is interested in my program I would be glad
to send it to them.
And this:
49 lb gone 2-01-08
Of course not everyone wants to lose
weight, some want to increase muscle mass:
Whereas all of you have been
talking about losing weight, I am going in the
other direction. About a month ago, I switched
my old routine up, which was similar to Gary's
program, to blast my muscles into something new.
My new workout involves heavy weight/low reps.
SO.. I checked it out and gained about 5-8lbs. I
am sure that isn't all muscle; however, I know
it isn't all fat either b/c I have noticed my
strength has increased a decent amount.
Wow! Way to go Roebbelen team!
And they aren't stopping there. They
are sharing tips and lessons along the way with one
another and holding each other accountable. In
Gary's own words,
As EmpowerU, it wasn't easy.
After going through great intensity and giving
it all that you had, the result was phenomenal!
Life isn't easy, but you get out of it what you
put in. Exercise is not easy either. To get
great results, you have to commit and put in the
effort. The rewards are tremendous! You took
that first step and now are walking tall. Good
for you!!!!! Keep moving forward!
