“Are You Using Your Tools?”By Scott V. BlackLet’s take a look at the toolbox that was created for you in your leadership Awakening experience. There are 5 concrete tools that we want to look at for your "LIVIN'" pleasure. They are: The Music CDs, the Light Your Candle DVD, the book—Want it. Create it. Live it: 3 steps to Becoming Your Dreams, the Forums and the 5+5 homework. In Leadership Awakening a lot of the learning takes place at the unconscious level. We use many different vehicles to create anchors that you can trigger when you get back to your world. Setting... and Firing Your Anchors You may remember that an anchor is anything auditory (hearing) or visual (seeing) thatwhen triggeredwill elicit a certain state. After the board break we have you set an anchor with your hands together. When properly set, that anchor can be triggered whenever you bring your hands together in a identical fashion, possibly close your eyes and take a few deep breaths… and suddenly you are in the ideal emotional/mental state to handle your current situation. You actually are going to the “coordinates” that you set in your body for that intense, powerful state that you created during the board break. Anchors are all around us, advertisers use them to lure us into purchasing services and products. Certain people have “pain” anchored to “loud screaming”, so when class starts the first night… some people shut down, get angry… and other things, all due to triggered anchors from their past. Knowing how the human experience works we created some very powerful anchors for you in your Leadership Awakening experience. Just the repetition of messages, saying the same things over and over and over, creates an anchor. “It’s ok to hurry…” “All will be known in due time…” “Pick yourself up, dust yourself off…” The visual anchors that we created unconsciously were incredible. Most people don’t even realize all the visual changes that go into a class. The scenery changes often in Awakening without most people being aware of the changes. Here are 5 tools you can use to support your journey:
The Empower U Forums are a great tool allowing graduates to further develop the relationships that began in the Awakening process. Some great friendships and relationships were fostered in class , this is the opportunity to continue to develop those relationships. These are people that you have struggled with, learned from, and pushed to go beyond their comfort zone… these people are great resources to have in our lives. Also remember that these people represent other people in our lives. The Bulletin Board can become a place for us to “Practice, Practice, Practice” for building better, more intimate relationships. Use the momentum that was created. It is much easier to move mountains with momentum than it is to move them when you're standing still!! The Music CDs A great tool that we create for you in the Awakening experience is available through the CD’s. In the music we have created a strong emotional connection to these sounds. There is much thought about what songs are played and when they are played during your training. Certain songs were only played at certain times, always with the question in mind, “What do we want them to be able to experience at this moment?” The music that was played during your class has been emotionally connected to the emotions of that moment. You trigger the anchor by playing the music after class and you elicit the powerful emotional state that you were experiencing when you heard the song the first 5 times! It became part of the experience. So by using this tool you bring your state of mind to the proper place at the proper times. We have created additional auditory anchors. Sometimes you want to put on the Awakening CD, or my favorite, “Raise the Bar” and just get your head banging and your attitude adjusted to just the right frequency. Other times you need something different. You need not just some music, you need a pep talk. You need a “coach” to get into your head and help you talk yourself into the game. For those moments, “Let the Journey Continue” CD allows you to have Mr. Black as a coach any time. All the tenets of the training, the stories, the words… reliving it with a “coach’s talk.” Plus there is a great process that will help you with your post-graduate commitments. Listen to the second part of the CD about a month removed from Awakening and it will get you back on course. Certain things we forget about, they fall by the way side, this part of the CD will remind you of what you want. Want more? How about the “Think About That” and the “Steppin' Over the Line” CDs? Powerful auditory anchors you can use to keep focused and committed. The Light Your Candle DVD Attending a Leadership Awakening graduation is a powerful way to
motivate yourself. But there may not always be a graduation close by
when you need the recharge. The Book, Want It. Create It. Live It. This is a great tool for those of you that like to support your experience with further study. Want It. Create It. Live It. is not a rehashing of your Awakening experience. It is designed to expand some of the concepts covered in Awakening and allow for those who learn by reading, to experience further growth and to “Continue to Journey”. Daily 5 + 5 Picture yourself sitting in front of your television getting ready to watch your “program.” Can I ask you a simple question? If your tuner on your TV is set to ESPN, why would you expect anything else to show up on your screen? If your tuner is set to Fox News, why would you expect to see CNN? To get what you want you need to have the remote control!! You need to set your “tuner” to What You Want! The 5 + 5 sets your tuner to a positive, grateful station. It is kind of hard to play victim when you are focused on 5 things you are grateful for! It’s kind of hard to be down when you are focused on 5 things you are excited about! I have no scientific data to back this up… I believe that the human mind left alone will automatically go negative. I notice it in my life all the time. If I don’t set my RAS to a good station, the station that is defaulted to is not always in my best interest. Using Your Tools for Positive Change It takes so many days to create or change a habit. Some say 3 weeks, some say 30 days. It is all about patterns. What patterns are you creating with your momentum from Leadership Awakening. You have all this rocket fuel surging through your veins. The time is now to create “better” patterns to get you what you want. 30 days of starting every morning with you consciously focusing your RAS (Reticular Activating System) on what you are excited about and what you are grateful for! What is the worst thing that can happen when you start each day with that focus? Here are 5 clear, concise tools for your Active Tool Box. I challenge you to do at least 3 of the 5 for the first 60 days after your class. If you do that… people will see a Before Empower U and an After Empower U! Don’t thank us… you chose to live it. For those not willing to accept Good Nuff… all 5 for 60 days… Leadership in Motion! With Passion-HBS, Scott V. Making a Difference - Greg Shy, Team 527I have told the starfish story over and over and over. I believe it and it works! Every week I send out an email to the slot supervisors, slot director, and Terri (who is the regional trainer). I keep my notebook and binder out and read through it every week. I use quotes that I have gotten either in class or from the Empower U newsletter. I then take that quote and put into words what it means to me. One of the supervisors has started posting my emails on the bulletin board for all to read. At first I don't think anyone knew what to think! Let me tell you, I have really started to create a buzz here! My director Michael Herzog has told several people how impressed he is that my passion has not slacked up. There was not much of a response at first. Now more and more people are telling me how much they enjoy my email. I wish everyone would feel this way. By reaching out I will have a positive affect on someone's life. And it could be that one starfish that needed it. I thank God for EmpowerU and my brother for sending me. You have completely changed my life for the good. No armor on my back. I have gotten out of my head and am living life with my heart. It is wonderful!!! I listen to at least one song on the CD every day. They have such a positive reinforcement for me and how I live. My favorite is "Dash of life." Empower U International is Looking for Committed People to Join the RenaissanceMake an Even Bigger DifferenceIf you'd like to make a powerful difference in the world, we may have the opportunity for you. We're looking for people to fill two positions:
If you're ready to step over the line and join the Empower U International Renaissance, call the Dallas office at (817) 478-1858. My Word CoachCan you figure it out?We commonly use words and phrases that have old meanings. Often we aren't even aware of where those words came from. Twice a month we'll be giving you a hint about word and a phrase and ask you to guess what the word or phrase is. Of course we'll be giving you the answers, but do yourself a favor and see if you can get the answer before clicking on the link. Have fun! Question #1: Can you keep a secret? If so, you're qualified to join the ranks of this time-honored profession. In the 1300s when the word was first used it meant that you were someone who could be entrusted with sensitive information. These days it will also help if you can use a computer and are very organized. What is the word? Question #2: When you want to extract the greatest value possible from a purchase, this phrase describes it. It was first mentioned in the U.S. in 1954 when people talked about increasing national security while doing so at a lower cost. Can you guess the phrase? See the answers by clicking here.
