Our graduates keep making a difference in the lives of others in their families and communities.
Today while getting off the Interstate I saw a man at the exit that had a sign saying "homeless." I have passed this same man many times before. Up until now, I didn't see a person, I saw a beggar. This morning, I pulled over to see if I could take him somewhere to get him something to eat.
I told him that today was the first day of the rest of his life and that he would be okay. He thanked me and held on to my hand.
I took him to McDonald's and bought him breakfast. On the way back to his location, I asked what was his downfall. His reply was drugs cost him his job and his family. He is staying at the local Mission.
I told him that today was the first day of the rest of his life and that he would be okay. He thanked me and held on to my hand. I asked him when he would eat again today and he said, "I don't know." I reached into my pocket and gave him $5.00, and told him now he would. I left seeing a man, not just a figure on the street.
It's a great day to be alive!
