Up until now, I wasn't able to communicate very well with elderly folks, but lately, because of my new lease on my life, I have really enjoyed working for them.
She told me that she knew I really cared about her and the situation and was most pleased with our service. WowWWW!!! That compliment made me feel so good that I WILL work harder and with even more passion for the next because she showed me how much of a difference I made in her life when her situation didn't seem like it could get any worse.
Last week, a customer of ours, Mrs. Hoyt, had a water damage in her home from a leak in her slab and called us to take care of it for her. 2 months prior, She'd had another w/d and a different company did the service. This company had to pack up all her contents in the area, and move it out of the house. Things very old and precious to her got broken, scratched and all together messed up, so when we came in to do our part, she was very wary of how things were to be done.
There were times during the job her frustration made her come across as down right picky or rude, and up until now, that was my pet peeve. Elderly people being picky or rude. Well, every time she would call, she had a concern and I would talk to her or go over, sometimes even at 8 or 9 o'clock at night, to make sure that I did everything I could to make this situation better for her, and always with a smile and a willingness to get things right.
After pushing myself and pushing myself, I finally finished the job, and got her all dried out. My reward for my hard work and stepping over my old line was when she called me the day after we were done to personally thank me for all my hard work, and admitting she hadn't been an easy person to work for. What she said next literally blew me away. She told me that she knew I really cared about her and the situation and was most pleased with our service. WowWWW!!! That compliment made me feel so good that I WILL work harder and with even more passion for the next because she showed me how much of a difference I made in her life when her situation didn't seem like it could get any worse. Granted, I had to push myself all the way through it, but the end result was so worth it. Thank God for the patience he gave me and the difference I was able to make in her life. What a wonderful life!!!!
